I really was going to attempt to keep up with this better. I really planned to and then the universe, in its infinite wisdom, decided that things needed to go into free fall, topped off with my mother dying at the end of January. She wasn't sick and it was quite unexpected and emotionally draining, to say the least. I'm still in emotional overload, trying to deal with a whole lot of stuff, but I'm trying to attempt some sort of normalcy.
Easier said than done. Life is just...insane...right now.
I'm also attempting to get back to reading. I haven't really had the attention span for much, but I did finish one book and am currently reading two more.
I had read the first book before the holidays and enjoyed the premise. I liked this one more as the main character deals with her new identity and battling feelings of revenge versus helping people. I like that it's not a simple case of black-and-white for the main character or a few of the other secondary characters. I'm hoping to read the third book soon.
Currently reading the latest Rob Thurman as I love the Cal Leandros series and I was giving the Cassandra Claire trilogy of books a try. I'm not sure on the latter quite yet. It has an interesting plot, but the writing is far from great.
It seems that whenever I make resolutions with myself regarding blogging and being more constant with my updates, life thwarts me in some way. Maybe it's a sign that I wasn't meant to spend so much time on such things...but most likely it's just that my immune system was shot to hell and a cold turned into pneumonia and I was out of it for a couple of weeks.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
I've spent the past few weeks absorbing large amounts of television while drinking huge glasses of juice and being force feed chicken soup. Thank god for History and Discovery Channels or the boredom might have killed me.
I came back to work yesterday and feel ready to try to get back to doing the things in my life I enjoy - such as blogging and reading and critiquing the American Idol contestants.
So what's new on the world wide web? Anything I shouldn't miss?
I am back from outer space. Or finally recovered from the holidays and trying to get my act together for another new year. I'm hoping that 2008 is better than 2007, especially health-wise. I find that the constant sinus infections wreak havoc on my plans because I become lazy and inconsolable. Sure, some people would push past the pain and still accomplish things, but I'm not one of them. Maybe that should be my main goal for this year - to suck it up - but I doubt that will ever happen.

Today is the New Hampshire primary. I'm interested to see who wins on the democratic side and utterly frightened by the Republicans. I'm still trying to comprehend Mike Huckabee as the nominee. I mean, I understand that there aren't many options on the Republican side, but the man doesn't believe in evolution. Let me repeat: he doesn't believe in evolution. How can we have a President that doesn't accept proven science?
On the Democrat's side, I've been leaning toward Obama for awhile mostly because he is the sort of candidate that I think people can rally around and he really would be a change, which is something I think we need right now. But I like Clinton and Edwards too. For once being in a state where I have no real say in the primaries might actually be okay...as the three forerunners are all good choices for various reasons.

Okay, back to work. Much to do.
