Video: Show us a video that makes you want to dance.
Okay, most of Justin Timberlake's music makes me want to dance. In fact, I do tend to dance when I listen to it, which can be highly amusing for other gym-goers, I'm sure.
Am I the only one who ever hears a song at some point during my day and start to imagine what the music video based around my life would be -- or the montage scene in a movie with music? It's nothing over-the-top weird like I'm pulled into a Nelson poster or a member of A-Ha wants me in his comic. It's usually more bland, based around things I could do and affected by my mood. Yesterday, I was listening to Dixie Chicks, as I'm prone to do because Natalie Maines has a voice I adore, and as she sang "Long Way Around," I was picturing sections where I would walk down the street with attitude, or I'd do the dramatic sigh.
I'm a very odd girl sometimes.
But I'm guessing it just goes to how I not only tend to daydream a whole lot, but that music is a very important thing in my life. And that's why it's hard to say that I haven't really listened to much music lately. And I feel all discombobulated and strange because of it. I think I need to take a break from NPR and play my IPod some more on my commutes because lately when I get home, I have no energy to play my music library.
Must work on that because sometimes, it's fun to imagine a music video in my head, a place where I'm sassy and cool and always dressed exceptionally.
What's the best music documentary or concert film you've seen?
I highly recommend this documentary to everyone. It's set around Natalie speaking out about President Bush and how crazy country fans decided she deserved death threats and such. And it follows from there through to the new album and how they go about their careers and music. I loved the Dixie Chicks before this, but the documentary made me love them, especially Natalie Maines. Awesome.
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
I have no problem with the idea of what they're doing. I guess they're in a position where something like that is possible and they want to take care of their fans. That said, I'm not really a Radiohead fan, myself, so I probably won't buy it.
Show us which album tops your best of 2007 list so far.
I love her album. It's amazing and wonderful. I highly recommend it to anyone. She's got a great voice and her version of "Ain't No Sunshine" makes me happy.
I've only had this album for a week, but I had been waiting for it for awhile...and I completely adore it. It's wonderful.
Springsteen's releasing a new studio album this week and Dylan's releasing a greatest hits compilation. Which do you prefer from a legend: new material or time-honored classics?
As far as releases of music go, I prefer new material, but I'm always a fan of the classics. My favorite Bruce stuff is still his earlier stuff, though the new stuff makes me happy too. Then again, I'm a huge Bruce Springsteen fan (jersey girl - it's in our blood) so I'll probably love the new album too.
What song do you wish would never show up on a karaoke list?
"It's the End of the World As We Know It' by R.E.M. always comes up and not only do I hate that song, but it's impossible to sing. I find myself just making up my own words and then singing the chorus loudly as though that makes it seem like I really know what I'm doing.

I'll admit it. The song is dumb, but it gets stuck in my head. And the video has Milo (Peter from Heroes) in it, looking hot and broody. So I've watched it a few times.
Show us the last album you listened to.
I bought this a few weeks ago off ITunes and it's amazing. I love it and keep playing it over and over again. If I think of it when I'm home, I'll try to upload a song to give you guys a taste of the awesomeness. I also keep playing the new Jill Scott single and have listened to the sampler of the rest of that upcoming album - should be good stuff.
