The fifth book in the Morganville Vampires series conveniently came out a day after I finished the fourth book and my friend loaned me her copy. I'll have to get my own copy in the future (as I can't have all but one book in a series - my OCD will not allow that).
Overall, I really enjoyed it and the main plot points that occured, however, after book four where we seemed to get a lot more of Claire with Shane, Michael, and Eve, it took a bit to care much about Claire interactions early in the book. I'm really a fan of this series because of those four characters and their relationships. That said, I'm enjoying the overall plot and looking forward to the next book.
I could live without the evil cliffhanger endings.
So? How are those resolutions going so far?
They're okay thus far. I've been vaguely aware of my goals for the year whenever i do something, so at least, I'm trying to make conscious decisions. Of course, there are days where I conciously choose wrong because that's how I roll. Baby steps.
Since is the first spring I'll be coming up on where I own my own house and one of the things on my bucket list is to learn to garden and grow some produce at home (also as a way to cut down on my carbon footprint), I'm reading up on gardening. Now, this is something I've never really done. In fact, no one in my family (that's living) gardens...so I have no one to go to for advice on such things.
So I'd love some links to good websites and ideas for good choices in seeds - as I know I have to be ready to plant soon, I think.
Any help/advice is welcome!
What's your favorite winter activity?
Sitting in front of fire place, drinking hot chocolate, and reading a good book. I'm sure there is nothing better in the world.
I'm sorry to have dropped off the planet for a large portion of 2008. It was an insane year. Looking back, from the safety of the passage of time, it wasn't so bad, but at the time, all I could see was the suck touching everything. A lot happened. A lot that I couldn't control. But it's passed, as times like that tend to do, and I'm hoping I can get back to things I enjoy, including blogging.

First finished book of 2009 - let's see if I can actually keep accurate count!
It's the fourth book in the Morganville Vampires series and I simply adored this book. I really enjoyed the first three, but I think, in this book, we really get to the heart of the drama going on around our protagonist. It's also at a point in the series where we really know the characters and can enjoy them and their relationships once again
I like Rachel Caine's take on the vampire lore. I like her style of writing. And mostly, I love her characters.
That said, cliffhanger ending made me so glad that the next book came out this week.
Which countries have you visited? Which countries are on your list to visit?
I've been to Spain, France, Ireland, and England. I would love to travel the world, but the places at the top of my list are Italy, Australia and Japan.
What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Anything you're not so fond of?
In the morning, my mother, sister, and I make breakfast and watch White Christmas. Then after dinner is over and the table has been cleared, I go to the movies with a group of friends.
What gifts, big or small, are you hoping to find under your tree this year?
Sponsored by Best Buy.
I really haven't been able to think of much that I want except for the complete series of Friends on dvd and tickets to a broadway show.
The Cure sing “It’s Friday I’m in Love.” What are you “in” on this particular fall Friday?
It's Friday. I'm in indifference. It's not as catchy or inspiring, but it fits. It's a rainy day, but it *is* Friday and the weekend is upon me. So I'm trying to focus on that.
While driving, what's your biggest pet peeve?
Submitted by Alexandra
I have many. I get so annoyed when I drive a lot of the time - it's one of the few areas where I need to tell myself to calm down (most of the time, I'm pretty whatever about things). I'd say my biggest peeve though is the people who block the intersection in traffic. You know you're not going to make across the intersection before the light changes, but still you make it that the other road can't move when its their turn. I seriously want to get out of my car and brand people for such things because it's just an ignorant ass thing to do. Other things can be annoying, but it's usually done by accident...not this.

And hello everyone! I'm alive and reading. Bought a new house, moved into it, and have two new kitties...so life has been crazy. Hoping it will calm down in the near future.
